Milestone Meetings at Firvale Community Hub

Last week at Firvale Community Hub, under Gulnaz Hussain’s leadership, we witnessed exceptional team synergy during our staff meeting. Gulnaz expertly aligned our team’s efforts, enhancing both morale and productivity.

Additionally, we engaged the hub alongside Sheffield Councillor Safiya Saeed of Burngreave. These meetings, rich in community interaction, focused on addressing local needs and fostering sustainable solutions.

The collaboration between Gulnaz, Councillor Saeed, and the community promises exciting developments for Firvale. We look forward to furthering our commitment to community enhancement through such impactful partnerships.

Winter activities 2024 — for Children on Free School Meals

Firvale Community Hub in Sheffield recently hosted a festive Winter Holiday Activities event catering to children on free school meals.

The day was filled with creative energy as youngsters engaged in arts and crafts, jigsaw puzzles, painting, and board games. The inclusive atmosphere resonated with joy and laughter, emphasizing the importance of community support during the holiday season.

The event’s popularity reflected the success of Firvale’s commitment to inclusivity and providing a warm, welcoming space for families of diverse backgrounds to come together and create lasting memories during the winter break.

Embracing Resilience: A Reflection on ‘Listening to Loss’

On December 20, 2023, the Firvale Community Hub played host to a transformative event titled “Listening to Loss.” This interactive space was designed with a unique focus on fostering positive reflections on loss and grief.

Attendees were encouraged to share their personal experiences, the ways in which they navigate grief, and the support systems that have helped them through challenging times. Through the incorporation of local art, creatively themed stations, ambient music, and thought-provoking ideas, the event aimed to provide a healing and enriching environment for all participants.

Building Better Lives — Ladybower

Alhamdulillah!

Building Better Lives of Firvale Community Hub went on a day trip to Derwent Valley Dam, Ladybower Reservoir, and MyLahore for a delicious and memorable meal in Manchester on Wednesday, August 30th, 2023.

This trip will remain in our memories for a very long time, with fantastic walks, panoramic scenes, the beautiful company of friends, and fantastically delicious food at MyLahore in Manchester. Many thanks to our CEO, Gulnaz, of Firvale Community Hub for making this possible.

Meet the trainees of Building Better Lives at Firvale Community Hub: an incredibly vibrant group of men who are keen to improve their health and well-being. This group has been running very effectively for a number of years, aiming to tackle issues such as illness, loneliness, depression, and obesity. As the early days of summer unfurled, Firvale Community Hub hummed with the laughter and vigour of local kids immersing themselves in an array of thrilling activities. Our 2023 Summer Holiday programme kicked off with a burst of excitement, offering youngsters free boxing practice that not only honed their physical skills but also bolstered their confidence. Football enthusiasts had the chance to showcase their talents at the nearby sports club, nurturing teamwork and a passion for the game. And for those with a creative inclination, our arts and crafts sessions at the hub building provided a canvas for imagination to flourish.

Roma Communities: A Journey of Sustainable Settlement in Firvale

On July 14th, 2023, we had the honour and privilege of hosting Gulnaz, the CEO of Firvale Community Hub, as she shared her insightful talk on the migration of Roma communities to Firvale and the ongoing support provided by our organization. Females mental health activities at Firvale Community Hub

Empowering Men and Women with Mental Health Support

The Firvale Community Hub organised engaging well-being sessions for men and women facing mental health challenges. These sessions provided a supportive environment for open discussions, recreational activities, and relaxation, promoting holistic well-being and self-expression.

Men’s Wellbeing Sessions 

Tailored sessions for men included interactive group discussions, board game competitions, and meditation exercises, fostering camaraderie and inner peace while addressing their unique mental health needs.

Women’s Wellbeing Sessions

Specialised sessions for women encouraged open dialogue and offered arts and crafts activities for self-expression, empowering them to cope with mental health struggles and foster personal growth.

Through captivating sessions, the Firvale Community Hub has made a meaningful impact on the wellbeing of participants, equipping them with strategies to navigate mental health challenges and fostering resilience within the community.

Young Voices Shape Firvale’s Summer Activities

Firvale Community Hub, commissioned by Sheffield City Council, conducted a comprehensive consultation exercise with young service users to determine their preferred activities during the summer holidays. The valuable insights gathered will play a vital role in shaping future holiday programs within the area. The consultation was attended by children and mothers of all ages and backgrounds, ensuring a diverse range of perspectives were considered.
