Building Better Lives Walking Group

Salaam!

Building Better Lives Walking Group of Firvale Community Hub is every Monday starting at 10.45 a.m.

Building Better Lives at Firvale Community Hub has two sessions a week for men over 50. We have a class on Mondays at 10:45 a.m., which starts with the group meeting at Firth Park, opposite Taste of Arabia. We walk a few laps and then assemble to do some exercises and stretching. We then go to Taste of Arabia for soup and naan, which we pay for, and talk. We are indebted to Taste of Arabia, who allow us to use their premises and charge us a very nominal amount for soup and naan.

On Tuesdays, we have a class from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. This class is also well attended. We do cardio exercises and stretching for 30 minutes. After this, we have a cup of tea and cake or biscuits and talk about health and wellbeing. This engagement of men, with an average age of over 70 years, is very popular. These men have the opportunity to exercise, stay healthy, learn about diet and wellbeing, and socialise.

MESSAGE FROM SHEFFIELD ROMA NETWORK

Please be considerate to your neighbours when socialising or playing outside of properties including ball games, singing, shouting, the playing of musical instruments or Bluetooth speakers. Many residents want to relax at night with their windows open or have children who need to be in bed at a reasonable time. Loud activities at unreasonable times can severely effect people’s enjoyment of their homes. We strongly recommend that activities that cause noise should stop in the evenings to prevent disturbance.

Antisocial behaviour can include:

  • noise.
  • shouting, swearing and fighting.
  • intimidation of neighbours and others through threats or actual violence.
  • harassment, including racial harassment or sectarian aggression
  • verbal abuse.
