Holiday Hunger

Over the summer holidays Firvale Community Hub delivered the holiday hunger project in partnership with People Keeping Well.

The project is aimed at providing families with free lunches and activities over the summer holidays. The project is open for all families but is specifically targeted at families who may be suffering financially and families who relied on free school lunches for their children.

Firvale Community Hub ran 14 sessions and had over 80 children attend over the 6 weeks, The children engaged in art and crafts, sports, singing, dancing and games.

There is clearly a need for such projects in the area as highlighted by the success of our project. The children have very little or no activities to take part in over the holidays in the local area, and both children and parents appreciated the activities that we provided.
The children eagerly looked forward to coming to the groups and enjoyed the lunch that we provided.

Below we have some feedback quotes and pictures from the children.

“I loved colouring in the books”, “I am happy that I can dance here with everybody”, “Can I come here everyday to play?”, “the food here is so nice”
