Winter Olympic Themed Art Sessions 2018

During February 2018 half-term 40 children of Firvale came together to enjoy two afternoons of painting and sticking to create a Winter Olympics themed frieze. The children, aged 8 – 12yrs, were guided in their artistic activities by Jamileh Hafezian and Margaret Gibson and supported by volunteers, Pavla, Paria and Martina. The children had a really fun time creating an amazing colourful frieze depicting snowboarding, ski-ing, bob sleighing and other Winter Olympic sports. You can see their wonderful art-work in the photographs below. Some children also made medals and created a wide variety of individual paintings. We have included a gallery of some of their paintings below. During the sessions they all enjoyed refreshments too and at the end of the sessions all the children helped to tidy away the paints and brushes. They told us that they really had fun together, meeting and making new friends. A fun time was had by all and they are looking forward to the next school holidays for more ‘Art for Kids’ sessions.

Art & Craft Session

It was great to welcome radio Sheffield to our Children in Need project on the 1st of November 2016, to showcase how successfully the project is working.

The arts and craft session plays a major role in getting the community to work together in a safe environment we are also using our sessions to empower them to make positive life choices, thus reducing their risk of exploitation.

By providing these activities, we will counter the poverty that the young people experience as they would not be able to attend sessions like these otherwise, either due to the cost of admission or the cost of transport to activities such as these.
